Robin's egg blue

I made this happy discovery last night: A bird's nest in our apricot tree.

Bird nests always amaze me, the way they weave bits of grass and weeds--and whatever else they can get their beaks on--into such a work of art.

Unfortunately, this momma bird must be afraid of heights, because she built the nest only 4 feet off the ground. And there are already some tiny breaks in the eggs, so I'm not sure if they'll ever hatch. But it was neat to see anyway.

And I would have loved to have watched her carry that big tumbleweed into the tree to work into the nest.

Happy Friday!
