Anniversary cards

We know two couples who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversaries. What an amazing milestone!

We wanted to send them something special, so I came up with these cards. The first card is for a very important person the husband works with. We got a lovely note from his wife; she loved the cards!

The second card is for the husband's aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania.

I printed them right before I drove to NM a few weeks ago, so I took them with me and sent them from there. I got a USPS small flat rate box, carefully placed the box of cards in it, packed it every-so-carefully with pink tissue paper, taped it up, wrote the address on it, and sent it on its way.

About four days later the husband got a call from his aunt saying, "Um, we got your package. Uh, thanks for the empty box." I could have died. I almost died. Nothing like that has ever happened! I guess the USPS even included a lovely little note to them saying "Sorry, but your box is now empty." I'm not sure what happened to the box that the whole set of cards could have fallen out without a postal worker noticing, but let's just say that I am now taping all of my boxes extra, extra well!

I haven't had a chance to reprint the cards yet, but I'll do that after I return home next week from a few days in Wyoming.

The cards were such a hit with the people who've seen them that I decided to add them to my shop. I think they'd also make great gifts for weddings, and especially for 1-year anniversaries (for which the traditional gift is paper).

Speaking of the shop, something really amazing happened just about an hour ago. I'll tell you about it next week, and why it's cause for celebration. And by celebration, I mean that there will be something in it for you! Have a great weekend.

  1. Lovely design - you're right, perfect for anniversaries and for writing wedding thank you notes too. What a bummer the box opened! It's good to recycle those flat rate boxes, but when brand new, the sticky stuff under the peel off tape holds like iron.
