Lockhart Basin: Part 1

As an early birthday present for the husband, we spent a long weekend camping in an area outside Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah.

We drove a 48-mile long road between Monticello and Moab. It took about 14 hours to drive those 48 miles--the roughest 48 miles I've been on in a long, long time. But I suppose that's the price you have to pay to see scenery like this.

We started out with what is known as Newspaper Rock.

And then we got into the red cliffs and big rocks. Big, big rocks. Everywhere. Rocks. And cliffs. Lots and lots of spectacular cliffs. Oh, and canyons. Lots and lots of spectacular canyons.
